3A my network

through this course i have become more awear of my network and allot of it does involve Web 2.O. when we first started blogging about Web 2.0 i blogged Do our lives evolve around the web to much. But coming to the end of this term i reflected on that blogg and wrote a short reflection about it.

i didn't relies what my network actually consisted of in till i sat down and drew it out

After looking at the diagram i had produced i drew another one up of how i would like to expand my network.

i feel that twitter is a good way to expand as i can then follow casting directors and choreographers as they my tweet about auditions i may not know about.
i feel that no ones network is ever complete you can always widen your horizons.

3B..... Affiliation

After reading the course read several time to try and understand it I finally clicked about one principle .
what I understood about affiliation was that:
Affiliation is the state of being associated. Its an agreement between two inderpentants inderviduals that diffines how they will relate to one another.
The reader explores how us as human beings benift from affiliation and how in a network we gain relationships.

In the performing world you can't have a dance company that doesn't get on collectively. It doesn't matter weather you don't get on personally but with out affiliation there won't be a satisfactory end product or show. You have to work in a team what ever profession you are in. If we didn't co-operate with each other there wouldn't be affiliation.
Co- operation is a big part in a network. Axelrod's explain included the thought of its Tit fot Tat. Which I find very true. Why should you co-operate with someone who doesn't co-operate back. This is a view a director can take as there are plenty of other people who would love the job you may have so you have to co-operate even if you don't gett on personally you have to have affiliation.
I found the principles co-opperation and affiliation the easiest to understand as the go hand in hand.

Intended pathway...

It wasn't until after my phone call with Paula Nottingham that I relished I had never posted about what my ambitions are. I had only ever posted about when I'm older what I want to do.
I would love to travel the world and dance so the best way is a cruise ship. I would love to work on the cruise ship. I think it would be an amazing experience and great learning curve.

task 3C the importance of the source.

information souses play a HUGH part not only in our profession but in everyone's life's.
if we didn't have sources we wouldn't learn facts it would all just be knowledge from what people have said, and how would you know if any of it was true. it could just end up as one big Chinese whispers. before starting the course if someone had asked my what were my 5 main sources of information i would of said i don't know. since starting the course i have learnt so much about i i use the web and other sources. i had been using them all along but never had acknowledged it.

my 5 main sources are: Google, Books, People, my ipad and ipod, and also facebook.

Google
i would say google is my main source, a bit of an addiction in a way. i use google every day to update myself and calender of auditions that are upcoming. i also use google to update my image. in other words online shopping, i like to see whats in fashion.
i also use google to research things that i query in the day. or if i want to learn about something i didn't understand. i use it allot for my BAPP course. I'm not the cleverest person so i use it to research about the subject.

Books
Even though there is information available on google i still like to go to the library and borrow a book. as i find there is more in depth information in a book.

People
even though you cant rely on what people say all the time, i find that they hold some us full information. for example: old friends from college may know about auditions you don't and you get informed by them.... job opportunity.
also its about who you know in this indersty , so knowing the right people will get you the right information.

Ipad/Ipod
like on liam's blogg i also use my ipad and ipod. i use it to download free music, books ect
i use them to access google and facebook etc. my main app i use is "The Stage" which cost me £1.99 and i think its amazing. i get all the auditions on my ipad which i use every day.

Facebook
facebook is probably my second main source of information. i don't go on facebook as much as i used to i feel i don't use it for social reasons as much any more i use it for following casting groups such as, spotlight, Debbie O'Brian and dance cast. i feel i need to widen my horizons and open a twitter account to follow casting directors and choreographers.

i think my 5 main sources are import in my life and carear path as they open up opotunies to gain jobs.
other souses i use: calander, my phone (my contacts), my dairy and journal.

Google world wide web continued

After blogging about how advanced google is I decided to resurch more into there doodles that appear on there home screen which has become an icon of the internet.i came across another interactive one which I have uploaded on to my blogg on a Video gadget.
It is amazing how google are so big and tecniqual.
When I think of web 2.0 I think of google. What does everyone else think of?

Did you know that the word google is in some dictionaries as it is now reconised as I verb.

Questions Imergin from my training/practise..... Task 2D

I want to teach children with disabilities but trying to find a job in a school is hard...even though we're out of this resection jobs are still at risk and job cuts are still happening so there is a lack of jobs.
When will jobs stop being affected?

Looks are important when auditioning. How often should we update our portfolio?

Web 2.0 is always growing and google is very advanced how much growing does it have left though?

Reflecting is important but can you actually learn something new every day?

Journal writing experience

Since blogging about the penguins and uploading the Vidio to my blogg, I wrote in my journal and reflected on how knolagable I am on web 2.0.
I wrote about the method I use when I do something new on the web. For example When loading the Vidio of the penguins onto my blogg. At first I didn't know how to load it on, I like to play around and look through things and work it out my self. From this I can see that in Kolb's learning circle I fall into the category "concert experience" ( doing/ having experience).
Once I loaded the gadget of YouTube Vidio on my blogg I didn't know how to change the Vidio to the one I wanted to show. So I reflected on what I had just done and the process I had taken. I reviewed how I loaded it and what options I picked. After reviewing what I had done I figured out what I needed to do to adapt the option given to gain what I wanted to show.
From doing this I also fall into the category " reflective observation " (reviewing/reflecting on experience.)

Kolb's learning cycle makes you more knolagable on the way you learn and how you reflect on the things you do.

I feel that because I do things the way I do I am more knolagable on web 2.0 than I relies.

Everyone is Is different and learn things in different ways. Don't mean your wrong.

Journal entry .... Google world wide web

Google holds everything you need and is the main search engine.
What ever you search it will come up with at least one thing.
Google change there header(or google doodle as they call it) quiet a lot sometimes they relate it to the day that it is.
Todays one just showed how technologically advanced google is compared to other search engines such as ask it was a integrative header there were tasks to complete. Was definitely the best one I've seen yet. There have been so many different headers.

Here is the link Below to access a page showing today's google header/logo
What do you think about google and how technologically advanced they are?
Is google the world wide web?

Reflection on 'do our lives evolve around the web to much?"

After writing the journal for about 5 weeks know I decided to look back through it and see if there was any patterns.
The one thing I noticed was that for my everyday life as a dancer trying to gain employment I use the web a lot to find auditions, resurch for jobs and auditions and for information. I looked. Back and reflected on my blog 'do our lives evolve around the web to much?" and relished that we actually don't rely on it we use it for our advantage to help us get jobs.
If we didn't have the web would we actually be able to get all this resurch and information?
The library's are only so big!

Nerves at the ready. Hair modelling and contacts ..(task 3)

I decided to do hair modelling for the first time. I was hair modelling for a hairdresser called Stacey Broughton who is very famous in the hairdressing world. He had two other models befor me. I was so nervous. Befor hand I had used google to look up his latest work and what he had been doing. I think this made me more nervous as his latest thing was 'cropping'.
It made me so nervous waiting as I was the last one used.
I was quiet lucky as I had another hairdresser as well as Stacey that I knew already through my dad being a hairdresser so I was quiet happy.
As I sat in the chair my nerves disappeared and I sat back and relaxed and let them literally chop away. Befor I had a long A lined bob, but know I have very short hair.
I really enjoyed the experience and I am so happy with my hair.
I shall get pictures up on flicker once I can get hold of digital ones.
In this intersty it is about who you know.
I spoke to the Paul Mitchell rep (who is one of my dads good friends)about doing hair modelling for his company when they need people. He was passing on my information to the person who deals with it all.
Everyone has contacts you just have to use them tactically and do your resurch.
Is there anyone you knew that has helped you gain contacts in the intersty?

Journal entry .... Lesson learnt

I was looking through my journal and reflecting on what i had done that week and what i had learnt about myself and actions i took. One thing that i had learnt was that Its all about survival in life no matter what species you are! I had thought of this after watching a documentary about penguins and deciding that even if your a dancer, actor, artist, hairdresser or even a shop owner. You have to be good at what you do and perform to the highest standard and fight for survival. I realised this and reflected on this after an audition a few days after which didn't go well. There are so many people that want the same thing and you have to fight for survival otherwise your cut!
I have found that looking back over my journal I reflect more on what I have done and what I have learn from it. I feel that I am more knolagable about things going on around me.

What things have you learnt about yourself or even about things that you have done?

Hair modelling for the first time :/

Today I'm hair modelling for Stacey Broughton who in the hairdressing world is famous. It's for one of his training sessions which is being held at FX hair studios. Waiting to be used is the most nerv racking thing I have done. Unsure what is going to happen to my hair but that is what comes with being a hair model you have to let the hairdresser do what he or she wants to do in able to show there full potential.
Nervous! I'll blogg after about how it went.

Task 2a... The dreaded Journal.

i am quiet unsure about this journal writing. I am not the best writer or even confident at writing.
i like to have everything planned out and a set structure about what I'm working.
with a journal i feel i don't know what to write about.
i feel like i may forget to write sometimes.
even though i am very organised, everything i do i like to plan out.

What sort of things is every one else writing about?
are you writing?.... i might draw pictures.

Image is everything!?!

After the 1st campus session at Hendon i travelled back with a few of the people i met. We were discussing our blogs and the layout of them. After saying goodbye and going our separate ways I started thinking....What does my blog say about me? What are people’s first impressions when they see my page? Does it give off a professional image?
Our everyday life is evolved around image! When we get up and get ready we constantly think about our self image, from brushing our teeth and doing our hair to choosing what to wear and the way we wear it. Not many people go out of the house without looking in the mirror at least once! I always walk out of the house looking presentable as you never know who you may bump into that day you what to have a professional and respectable look about you, even if you are wearing your casual wear.
Also first impression is everything. They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but I can’t help it! I always go by first impressions before diving deeper to get to know someone.... I can’t help it and I’m sure other people are the same!
Image is also in everything around us. Buildings for instance; an architect will not design and plan a building which doesn’t have a nice image and is not settling to the eye. Look around London; we have some beautiful old buildings such as The Tower of London, Westminster Abby, Houses of Parliament and not forgetting the Royal Albert Hall. We also have some new contempery buildings such as the new Olympic stadium, the Millennium Bridge, London City Hall, 30 St Mary Axe (the gherkin) and the new building going up by monument. There all eye catching and beautiful in different ways. Some are ever breath taking.
Image in a way is an art form. No matter whether it’s a building or a person other people take notice.
After thinking about how important image in the Dance profession I came home and changed my blog background. So instead of it being all girly and dance orientated I thought I would still show my girly personality but have my blog a simple colour and some colourful text as i felt it gave off a more professional look.
What do you thing about image in everyday life and what goes through your head when first meeting someone or even first view of their blog?

My first day... Blogging and all

It has been the first day of the Bridging course for dyslexia.
I met people who were all different ages who are starting the university this year.... They all felt the same as me about written work and reading.... Frustration.
I felt a big weight lift off my shoulders, knowing there is help there for me and other people that are in the same position helps a lot. I feel less apprehensive about starting and completing written work.
I have know planned out my entire semester and set tasks and deadlines for myself.
I have learnt that if i organise, plan out things and set deadlines it makes it seem less of a work load and makes it more reassuring that i will get it all done.
Even if you aren't dyslexic this will help you get things done and set aside time to study.
I also learnt alot of different techniques to help memory and studying.
I'm looking forward to learning more the next three days.
Does anyone have any study techniques which they can share with me?
